ANTHRAX-Worship music (my review)

The best thing was when Joey Belladonna has come back to band.
The band has become stronger than before. Instantly.
Joey is a voice of Anthrax and today absolutely.
This infectious musical worshiping starts with silent, mysterious intro "Worship". The first thrash attack comes with "Earth on hell". "The devil you know" is the angry and powerful face of metal. It's a great look to their past. "Fight 'em 'til you can't " is a wonderful song with guitar riff similar to "Gridlock" from Persistance of time album. Indeed, it's a great atmospheric, attractive tune. No boredom.
"I'm alive" is like with a breath of State of euphoria album. Unmistakable Anthrax script is audible here. "Hymn 1" is a cello instrumental song. Another trace from their past years (Be all, end all).
"In the end" is an emotional hard tune. Of course catchy and mainly infectious. It's simply a perfect strike to your ears.
A dangerous monster "The giant" is crushing the rest of this album. One of their best songs. These vocals are excellent here. Mainly in chorus. It's a bomb of wonderful melodies. "Hymn 2" is a drum instrumental song. After this short song there comes a mighty song "Judas Priest". It's a brilliant tribute to the band of the same name. It's a divine, heavy, thrash metal celebration.
"Crawl" starts comfortably. But it's a righteous Anthrax song. Not the hardest but I enjoy it. Infectious threat comes in "The constant". Full of excellent thrash metal atmosphere in their own style.
The legacy and influence of Persistance of time album lives in this tune.
"Revolution screams" is no slow lullaby. It's just a scream! Explosion! Annihilation! The thrashing, insane vortex and vertigo. The right end of album.
In this album guitars plays an unique, crushing riffs and beautiful melodies together with stormy bass and drums and perfect vocals. Sound of this album is pretty cool and explosive. Generally, this album is a golden star in metal constellation.
So worship thrash metal music! Worship this band!

SEPULTURA-Roots (my review)

It's really the most idiomatic album from Cavalera's period.
Here is a deep-rooted influence of Brazilian culture, music and heritage. The most in "Ratamahatta" or "Itsari". It's about the roots of Sepultura's members. They didn't forget on their roots and motherland. It's an unique connection of Brazilian music rhythms and metal music.
This tribal metal madness starts with "Roots bloody roots". One of the most popular Sepultura songs. Total anthem at concerts.
Other songs are good or not so good. In my opinion the best ones are "Roots bloody roots", "Attitude", "Cut-throat", "Spit", "Born stubborn", "Jasco", "Endangered species".
Through this tribal inferno there are angry, heavy, hard and crushing guitar riffs.
Thunderous bass rumbles in this tribal metal storm. Cannonades of drums are sometimes adapted in the style of Brazilian music and atmosphere.
Vocals of Max Cavalera are totally powerful and explosive. His voice is like an explosion of volcano. And also a music of this album. Sepultura recorded totally the most unique album. Not the best but in its own essence unique.
All these Brazilian tribal rhythms and voices are a special ornaments in these heavy tunes. It's suitable. Because of Sepultura's roots. It's insane but impressive.
This album contains some magic of simplicity and uniqueness. There's something like a beating heart of jungle. It's not only about metal music. It's about roots and influence. About power of heritage, music and nature. Doesn't matter if you like this album or not. You'll never forget on it.
Album "Roots" was successful because it was something new in heavy metal world. It was also the last album with Max Cavalera who created his new band Soulfly after departure.
The spirit and influence of this album is audible in Soulfly albums.

ANTHRAX-It's for the kids (song review)

The first song after 10 years from their upcoming album Cursum Perficio.
It seems like a dream came true. But it's a reality. No. It's more than any reality. I would like to write, finally!
Finally a new musical disease spreading across the world. And it's infectious. Because I can't stop listening to this tune. The song in its own essence is hard, heavy, fresh and attractive. It's a big, great gift for Anthrax fans. And for all metal community. In this majestic tune a guitars plays thunderous, heavy, powerful riffs totally in the style of this band. The sound of guitars is more than perfect here. Guitar solo is brilliant, sharp as razor, fast as bullet and incredibly impressive.
Melodic and gorgeous bass guitar is an ornament for this tune. It sounds excellently.
The power and energy comes also from a drumming cannonade. Charlie Benante is more than excellent drummer.
And here is another man who gives a power to this band. It's Joey Belladonna. His voice is divine here. Clear and unmistakable. Vocal melodies are great. Mainly that chorus. It's fantastic and mainly infectious.
This is one of their best songs. It's for the metal kids. It's for us all.
Long live, Anthrax! Glory for you!

KREATOR-Cause for conflict (my review)

This album is from their experimental period but more with thrash metal style. This is the hardest album from this period. It's much more aggressive than Renewal. And much more insane and harder. It's like Extreme Aggression part II. With more experimental, progressive and insane face of Kreator.
It's a return, short return to thrash metal. Supernatural, hypersonic ride and velocity. It's like a real cause for conflict in metal battlefield. It's an explosion!
I think that every song will devour every Kreator fan. Anytime and anywhere. Every song is an explosion of guitar riffs, drums, bass and vocals. Crushing, smashing guitars that plays excellent melodies and solos together with storming bass guitar. Through it all there's a cannonade of drums. Very dynamic, energetic and supernaturally powerful.
Powerful are also vocals. Mille spits the bullets out in this metal conflict. In this great musical storm. The band was in the top of speed and force again. It's hard to choose the best tune in this insane storm.
Kreator didn't forget to play thrash metal even in this experimental period. Their music is infectious and runs in their veins.
Some parts are experimental but mainly it's about furious ride in metal storm.
Kreator recorded in 1995 one of their hardest albums.

KREATOR-Renewal (my review)

The first experimental album by this thrash metal storm can be for someone terrible or good.
The rest from a typical thrash metal style of Kreator has started just with this album. And this experimental insanity was continuing with Cause for conflict, Outcast and Endorama. Music of this album is, of course, not so hard. In my opinion there's a lot of interesting ideas. Through it all this is a beautiful look into the past of this band and album sounds attractively. It's an example that album have not to be fast to be excellent. Kreator wanted some change and rest from the speed.
But on this album you can hear some fast parts too. Renewal is mainly slower, heavy, mysterious and weird.
The greatest songs are "Winter martyrium", "Renewal", "Brainseed", "Europe after rain" and "Depression unrest". "Winter martyrium" and "Renewal" are totally the best!
Guitars plays heavy, mysterious riffs, solos and melodies. They gives a characteristic atmosphere to this album. It's an unique emotion. Bass guitar is thunderous, mournful, deep and mysterious.
Drums, I gotta write, they are energetic, impressive cannonade. Vocals, Mille sings a little differently but it suffice for this album. Lyrics are full of insane, interesting stories in this book of music.
Renewal is not a perfect album but some songs or parts are great.

GRAVE DIGGER-Bone collector (my review)

German heavy metal legends finally recorded something powerful. It's a volcano of heavy metal madness inside the universe.
Album instantly starts with a big bang "Bone collector".
And also in other songs. In each one song you can hear a perfect, wild and hard dose of metal music. It's impossible to choose one favorite tune. Each one song offers a satisfaction for our ears. Impressive atmosphere and sound. True metal ride and wonderment created by this band.
Unique guitar riffs, solos, melodies shows their great musical intelligence and philosophy. There's no weak or useless place. If you want a blast of crushing music, everything is here for you. Energetic and dynamic bass and also drums that are a supernatural cannonade crushing everything. Powerful, metal, heavy and hard vocals are an another fuel for the fire.
For the fire and flames in this colossal metal inferno.
Pleasure to listen to this masterpiece. And lyrics? They are full of insane, interesting stories. So, Bone collector is an amazing, adventurous music book. It's one of their best albums. Golden star in heavy metal constellation.

BURNING WITCHES-Inquisition (my review)

The metal witches always comes with a supernatural dose of solid metal music.
Adventurous musical book will surely devour you like a magic spell.
Album's start is ghostly and fatal. The insane attack comes in "Soul eater". Continues in "Shame". A great top is in "The spell of the skull". Really magical metal wonderment.
"Inquisition" is very attractive, impressive tune. There's a magic and power of this band. Essence of powerful music. "High priestess of the night" is a classic metal beauty. Fast, heavy ride is in "Burn in hell".
"Release me" is a beautiful slower song. Another explosion comes in "In for the kill". "In the eye of the storm" brings a wonderful atmosphere of a typical heavy song. A great tornado is destroying inside "Mirror, mirror".
Their musical intelligence is admirable. Guitars in this musical book are a wonderful, harmonious ornament playing a fantastic, impressive and unique riffs, solos and melodies. It's more than excellent. It's very dynamic, various part of this album.
Bass guitar plays a riffs with own essence and spell. Energetic drums fuels each one song perfectly. It's a magical cannonade.
A forceful vocals are perfectly adapted in every tune.
There's a power of metal too. Lyrics are full of interesting stories. Album cover is insane, explosive and great. Burning witches recorded an essential and meaningful album for heavy metal world. It's their hard and heavy musical magic.

SEPULTURA-The cloud of unknowing (my review)

Last EP by this band brings an expected blast. Last songs, last noise, last breath and last goodbye.
These are the fragments of their music for the last 30 years when they've become a different band. But still with roots of thrash metal. This ain't something new or progressive. It's a farewell. Pretty cool farewell. Not the best but good.
The legacy of old, classic Sepultura? Yes, a little bit in the song 'The place". There's a little bit of spirit of Arise album.
Atmosphere of this tune is similar to "Under siege (Regnum irae)" and "Desperate cry".
"The place" is full of unique, emotional, mysterious and impressive riffs, solos, vocals. It's the best song on this short album. And one of their best ones in the new age of this band.
"All souls rising" is a fast, heavy attack with an unstoppable energy and power. Crushing drums, guitars, vocals. There's an insane atmosphere of the metal storm.
"Beyond the dream" is slower song, really emotional and admirable. The most beautiful ballad by Sepultura.
These guitar melodies are brilliant. "Sacred books" is an another hard song. Not so great. It could be better. So doesn't matter if you like this EP or not.
It's their farewell.

HEATHEN-Empire of the blind (my review)

This is the fourth attack by metal beast Heathen. It starts with a wonderful intro. It's the first touch of thrashing. Another songs will surely catch your attention. It's like a great metal empire with all these crushing, jumping and heavy riffs, melodic, I point out, very melodic solos.
This guitar duo, Lee and Kragen, is stunning, gorgeous and outstanding. A fantastic performance is audible here very well.
Heathen brought some new majestic atmosphere to all these tunes. It's a thrash metal in new age. Unstoppable, very energetic drums are an important powerhouse in this metal empire. The strength is great. In full tunes.
Amazing bass lines supports the power of all these songs. Vocals gives a special and unique atmosphere to other instruments. Lyrics, as always, tells about many characteristic things typical for this band and music genre.
Multiplicity is important also for this album. Album cover is insane but music excellent.
Heathen recorded a precious album for metal community. They have their own style, meaning and sense. That's good.
Heathen belong to the greatest thrash metal bands in the world.

HEATHEN-The evolution of chaos (my review)

Get ready for a nuclear thrash metal blast. It's dangerous and radioactive. The evolution of this band is more than admirable. One album better than other one. A volcano of great music has exploded.
This insane ride starts with excellent intro and with "Dying season". Songs are long enough but adventurous and stunning. "No stone unturned" is 11:10 long. Insane but admirable. Insane and beautiful.
Guitars playing very, very, very stunning riffs, melodies and solos. Guitar duo Lee Altus and Kragen Lum is absolutely the best for this band. Gary Holt played solo on "Control by chaos". Lee and Kragen have written an excellent tunes.
Drums gives a perfect atmosphere together with storming bass.
Vocals and lyrics are cool in this adventurous musical book. Full album is miscellaneous and powerful. There's a lot of wonderful moments, emotions, moods, feelings, meanings. Atmosphere is insane, hard, heavy, melodic, harmonic, epic and beautiful too.
A supernatural power of thrash metal is audible here. It's their evolution!

HEATHEN-Victims of deception (my review)

It's more majestic metal ride than on previous album. There's a lot of songs over 5 minutes. A long thrash metal anthems with a lot of exciting riffs, melodies, solos, bangs and vocals.
These are "Hypnotized", "Opiate of masses", "Heathen's song", "Fear of the unknown", "Prisoners of fate", "Morbid curiosity", "Mercy is no virtue".
These songs are a wonderful metal stories.
"Kill the king" is a cool cover by Rainbow. "Guitarmony" is a beautiful, impressive instrumental song that will devour you. Guitars in these tunes plays a stunning riffs and solos. There's no bad part. It's a crushing, colossal wonderment. As I've written, songs are long enough but perfect and punchy.
Bass guitar plays an adventurous melodies in this long metal story. The longest is "Heathen's song". Drums are banging like a great, shooting cannon. Vocals and lyrics are of course, an important part of this music. They're stunning.
This album is perfectly invincible. Heathen recorded very miscellaneous masterpiece. A golden star in heavy metal constellation.

HEATHEN-Breaking the silence (my review)

First thrashing attack by this admirable band is called "Breaking the silence". And it's a true breaking. They proved a same talent as Exodus or Testament. But also by their own style. In each song is a powerful energy, great metal spirit and wonderment.
Lyrics are interesting, philosophical, remarkable and impressive. Not only on this album.
They recorded really a high-class masterpiece. Their musical intelligence is significant and more than powerful.
Guitars plays very unique, attractive riffs, melodies and solos. It's a basic element of this album. Very good sound in tunes. A guitar work is golden here. Lee Altus and Doug Piercy are pretty cool songwriters.
Bass guitar is handsome and perfectly adapted to tunes. Wonderful ornament.
Shooting cannonade of drums is an essential energy kicking your ears on and on.
Clear vocals of Dave White are truly perfect. As good as for example Joey Belladonna. Heathen is something like a thrash metal Iron Maiden. Their music is a great metal story, metal book. In their music the power lives. It's a blast and beauty in this album.
"Breaking the silence" is a golden brick in thrash metal wall.
They are breaking the silence and making the best music in universe.

EXODUS-Goliath (my review)

Another thrash metal music book of Exodus came here.
In my opinion it's good thrashing ride but not such good like on "Blood in, blood out" or "Persona non grata".
Honestly, I'm not a fan of Rob Dukes. It's a different atmosphere without Zetro. Although, it's not the best Exodus album, Lee Altus and Gary Holt proved they're a good songwriters. Mainly in "Promise you this", "Beyond the event horizon", "Violence works", "Summon of the gods unknown", "The dirtiest of the dozen".
These 5 songs are good. Great thrash metal ride. Other songs could be better. I like only half of this album.
Guitars plays fantastic riffs, solos and melodies mainly in these 5 good songs. Thunderous bass guitar guides all tunes very well. Drums of Tom Hunting are an explosive cannonade in fast songs. Rob Dukes sings by his own style. It's more different atmosphere when he's in this band as a singer.
Lyrics are good, some choruses interesting. Album cover is one of their best. Musically it ain't the best. New Exodus is such as it is.

APOCALYPTICA-Apocalyptica (my review)

Two songs are with guest vocals. "Life burns" and "Bittersweet".
Album is called Apocalyptica for its own essence. It's a real cello metal apocalyptic ride. Every song has a power, high voltage and unstoppable energy. It's much better than "Reflections" album. High-class cello metal will crush your brain. It's smashing, mad, insane, crazy and very, very beautiful.
Album starts with fantastic "Life burns". It continues with crushing, excellent, impressive "Quutamo" and "Distraction". "Bittersweet" is a slow, beautiful and emotional ballad. Very emotional and epic tune.
"Misconstruction" is a majestic, powerful thunder. Also emotional and attractive enough. "Fisheye" is an another masterpiece. Irresistible cellos and drums. Another perfect top. "Farewell" is an another beautiful, stunning song. That atmosphere will devour you all. Total wonderment. "Fatal error", a cello metal bomb. Pleasure to listen. "Betrayal/Forgiveness" is a nuclear blast. Strike, explosion, thunderous storm, tornado of cellos and drums. The greatest apocalypse. Dave Lombardo gave a power to this song too. "Ruska" is an epic tune with beautiful, impressive melody. "Deathzone" is a fabulous end of album.
Apocalyptica recorded one of their greatest albums.
It's a stunning high-class cello metal apocalyptic masterpiece.

APOCALYPTICA-Reflections (my review)

It's a first album with drums, it was really something new for them. Their first connection with drums.
Atmosphere of this album is majestic with drums. Dave Lombardo plays on tracks 1, 2, 4, 8, 10. Sami Kuoppamäki on 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13.
Album is a big musical story full of emotional, amazing, attractive and impressive melodies. Slow cello solos are a wonderful ornament. Fast, heavy cello riffs are absolutely something supernatural. Here is a great connection of classical and heavy metal music.
Although it's not their best album in some songs are a great ideas.
"Somewhere around nothing" is the most popular and a fantastic ornament of this album. Another perfect song is "Drive". It shows what this band is about. Beautiful cello melodies with crushing cello riffs and drums. That's an instrumental wonder. Album contains more emotional songs. It's not like "Cult".
Most beautiful tune is "Faraway". Slow, tender and majestic. That's a beauty of Apocalyptica.
"Reflections" is not a progressive album. Only progress are drums added to songs. Album has yet another great heavy cello metal songs. "No education", "Pandemonium", "Prologue (Apprehension)", "Resurrection" and "Toreador II".

APOCALYPTICA-Worlds collide (my review)

In the world of Apocalyptica, this album is sporadically sunny and sometimes sad. There are a lot of musical emotions.
Songs are multifarious and impressive. Tunes with singers are "I'm not Jesus", "Helden", "S.O.S. (Anything but love)", "I don't care". These 4 songs are with many interesting, slow, beautiful melodies. But they ain't such great like another songs.
Instrumental part of this album is the best cello metal ride.
There's full attack of cello crushing riffs, destroying and smashing the atmosphere. Cellos sounds pretty heavy, hard and powerful. Like a thunder. Solos are sharp, fast, excellent and sometimes slow. All these slow cello solos are the most beautiful ornament of this album.
Drums, mainly in fast parts of the songs are a total cannonade in this cello storm.
Best drumming is in the "Last hope". King of drums, Dave Lombardo is more than excellent here. I praise and love so much "Last hope". The greatest song on this album. All cello riffs are totally stunning.
Apocalyptica performed a great music intelligence and essence.
I gotta write that in instrumental Apocalyptica is a supernatural power. A supernatural uniqueness.
Worlds collide in its own essence is a masterpiece and ornament in their discography. Unforgettable cello wonderment.
